Tips for quitting smoking for good

When you learn how to manage your desire to smoke, you have every chance of quitting smoking and staying stopped for good. You don’t fight it, you don’t try to ignore it or make it go away. You remember that repression or avoidance of the desire removes the problem only temporarily; it doesn’t solve it. In fact, it’s only when you cope with the desire to smoke that you are really in control. The desire will diminish in time, but the first thing is to expect it. It’s not a sign of weakness or impending failure: it’s a perfectly normal aspect of being an ex-smoker. In fact, it is the way you become an ex-smoker.
