With the wave of recent shows such as “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Dancing with the Stars” its no wonder so many people are interested in ballroom dancing now. Tradition ballroom dancing is a medley of dances from various styles. Standard Dances include the waltz, froxtrot, quickstep, and tango. These dances center on poise and perfectly positioned footsteps. The other brand of popular styles are Latin Dances such as the chacha, samba, paso doble, jive, and rumba. The American version of this style adds mambo, bolero and swing. Latin dances are all about attitude and energy. Costumes are also a big part of Ballroom dancing. Men are done up in with amazing dance shoes like alligator skin oxfords and tails while women traditionally wore dresses adorned with ostrich feathers. Today the clothing styles are more relaxed with many costumes showing as much skin as possible.
